Hello! If you are looking for an online ASL book club, well you came to the right place! Welcome to DEAFinitely Readers! We are an online ASL book club. We focus and spotlight Deaf and Hard of Hearing authors, or books that have Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Deaf-Blind characters!
I'm so excited this came to fruition, Keri and I have been thinking about doing this but we didn't know how we could start. It wasn't until we decided to do a livestream together on TikTok, talking about Deaf culture and experience, and of course books! After a while. We asked our followers if they would be interested in joining the ASL book club. I was surprised to hear so much positive feedback. We knew we had to do quick research on how we could start one and what platform that was easy to do on. So we set one up!
If you are interested in joining DEAFinitely Readers ASL book club. You can find us on Fable App and Discord. Link below to join! We are so happy to have you!
So far we have read Unravel by Amelia Loken, The signal by Mike Duke, and Perfect Silence by Kari Lemor, we are currently reading A Song Below Water by Bethany C Morrow for the month of June.
I'm sure you have some questions!
Is Fable App and Discord free?
Yes! It's free to download, you don't have to pay for any subscription.
When do we meet?
We do livestream on TikTok every Monday and Wednesday around 8:45 pm CST. On Mondays we discuss Deaf culture topics, Deaf experiences and real life chats. On Wednesdays we do live book discussions. We break up in chapter sections to discuss.
How do we choose a book for the month?
At the end of each month after we finish a book, We give our readers at least three choices. They can vote which book they like to read. Voting lasts three days and when three days are up we check the results to see which book won.
If you have any questions, you can contact us! Hope to see you there! Happy Reading!
